ISRAEL OR THE CHURCH?

THE HUSBAND & THE BRIDEGROOM

The Old Testament - God is seen as the Husband of Israel (Isaiah 54:4-6; 62:4-5; Hosea 2:19).

The New Testament - Christ is seen as the Bridegroom of the Church (John 3:27-30; Matthew 9:15; Mark 2:19-20)

The Church is described in Scripture as the bride of Christ (Ephesians 5:25-32)

THE ANCIENT JEWISH WEDDING CULTURE
1. A man would go to the Father of the bride and pay for the bride
2. He would sign a legal contract of marriage
3. He would for an unspecified amount of time to prepare
4. He would not see her again until the day he came to take her to his father’s house and consummate the marriage
5. He would return with close friends on any given day on announced and unexpected
6. The bride was to prepare herself in waiting while surrounded with friends that promoted purity in her hopeful expectation of the coming wedding

Matthew 25:1-13 NKJV
“The kingdom of heaven shall be likened to ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom. Now five of them were wise, and five were foolish. Those who were foolish took their lamps and took no oil with them, but the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps. But while the bridegroom was delayed, they all slumbered and slept. “And at midnight a cry was heard: ‘Behold, the bridegroom is coming; go out to meet him!’ Then all those virgins arose and trimmed their lamps. And the foolish said to the wise, ‘Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.’ But the wise answered, saying, ‘No, lest there should not be enough for us and you; but go rather to those who sell, and buy for yourselves.’ And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came, and those who were ready went in with him to the wedding; and the door was shut. “Afterward the other virgins came also, saying, ‘Lord, Lord, open to us!’ But he answered and said, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, I do not know you.’ “Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour in which the Son of Man is coming.”

“What attracts the anointing (oil) is monogamous faith in the Anointed One”

II Corinthians 11:2
“I am jealous for you with godly jealousy. For I have betrothed you to one husband, that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ.”

Jeremiah 2:32 NKJV
“Can a virgin forget her ornaments, Or a bride her attire? Yet My people have forgotten Me days without number.”

Psalms 119:105 NKJV
“Your word is a lamp to my feet And a light to my path.”

Exodus 32:1 NKJV
“Now when the people saw that Moses delayed coming down from the mountain, the people gathered together to Aaron, and said to him, “Come, make us gods that shall go before us; for as for this Moses, the man who brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we do not know what has become of him.”

II Peter 3:3-13
“know this first: that scoffers will come in the last days, walking according to their own lusts, and saying, “Where is the promise of His coming? For since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of creation.” For this they willfully forget: that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of water and in the water, by which the world that then existed perished, being flooded with water. But the heavens and the earth which are now preserved by the same word, are reserved for fire until the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men. But, beloved, do not forget this one thing, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance. But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will melt with fervent heat; both the earth and the works that are in it will be burned up. Therefore, since all these things will be dissolved, what manner of persons ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness, looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be dissolved, being on fire, and the elements will melt with fervent heat? Nevertheless we, according to His promise, look for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells.”

I Corinthians 15:51-52 NKJV
“Behold, I tell you a mystery: We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed— in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.”

Revelation 19:7 NKJV
“Let us be glad and rejoice and give Him glory, for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and His wife has made herself ready.”

CHAT GPT
Lord Jesus Christ, I come before You in humility, praise, and adoration. You are holy, righteous, merciful, and full of unfailing love.
You alone are worthy of all honor, glory, and thanksgiving. Jesus, You are the Savior of the world,
the Lamb of God who takes away sin,
the King of kings and Lord of lords.
There is no one beside You, and no name greater than Yours. I praise You for Your sacrifice, for Your grace that redeems,
for Your truth that guides,
and for Your everlasting mercy that never fails. May every breath I take glorify You.
May my heart remain faithful and devoted to You.
Fill me with Your peace, wisdom, strength, and love,
so that my life may reflect Your light to others. All praise belongs to You, Jesus Christ, the risen Lord, the faithful Savior, now and forevermore.
Amen.

Matthew 15:7-9 NKJV
“Hypocrites! Well did Isaiah prophesy about you, saying: ‘These people draw near to Me with their mouth, And honor Me with their lips, But their heart is far from Me. And in vain they worship Me, Teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.’

Matthew 7:21-23 NKJV
“Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’

Matthew 25:11-12 AMP
“Later the others also came, and said, ‘Lord, Lord, open the door for us.’ But He replied, ‘I assure you and most solemnly say to you, I do not know you and we have no relationship.”

Ephesians 5:17-18 NKJV
“…do not be unwise, but understand what the will of the Lord is. And do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation; but be filled with the Spirit,

Zechariah 4:6 NKJV

John 8:12 NKJV
“Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.”

I Thessalonians 5:4-9 NKJV
“But you, brethren, are not in darkness, so that this Day should overtake you as a thief. You are all sons of light and sons of the day. We are not of the night nor of darkness. Therefore let us not sleep, as others do, but let us watch and be sober. For those who sleep, sleep at night, and those who get drunk are drunk at night. But let us who are of the day be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love, and as a helmet the hope of salvation. For God did not appoint us to wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ.
